Even if you’ve used the product, you can still return something that didn’t work for you. If something doesn’t work, always save the receipt and return it! Seriously, I save every receipt and often return merchandise to Ulta, Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, and any other store I buy beauty products from. That’s how I’ve learned over the years, trying products on myself and the clients in my makeup chair. Here’s the thing, be your own guinea pig.
But I would still select a cream blush for women over 40 even if they had oily skin because this will still give the appearance of healthy, youthful, hydrated skin, and who doesn’t want that? I wouldn’t recommend it for gals with inflamed acne and/or rosacea. So who does cream blush NOT work for? I wouldn’t recommend cream blush to young girls with oily skin. Recently I discovered a drugstore brand that has really impressed me with their quality, price point, and clean ingredients, Milani Cosmetics. Because they are a stick, they are easy to transport or travel with and work on eyes, cheeks and lips. Umber is a richer berry tone, great for deeper skin tones or any skin tone that prefers a redder tone to their cheeks and lips. Hibiscus is a warm pink and the perfect shade of flush. I ordered a couple of their cream blush sticks and loved them! Caramel is a warm light brown with the slightest peach and looks great on eyes too.
But now in 2020, their quality rivals any luxury brand I’ve used.

That’s hard to find, trust me, I’m an over 20 year professional makeup artist. I like sheer colors that allow skin to peek through. I prefer cream blush with zero shimmer or pearlescent. Cream blush blends into skin, almost becoming skin, so even close up, you can’t visibly see makeup sitting on your face. While I’m pretty happy with my skin for a gal in her 50s, the cream blush is a youthful skin hack, in my opinion. Each time I wear it I’m complimented on my skin. Now that I’m 53 and Fall is upon us, cream blush is my top pick in looking more youthful. I’ve loved and used cream blush since I turned 40, when I lived in California and the climate was arid, but once I moved to North Carolina and experienced my first southern humid summer, cream blush was quickly packed away and only used in colder months.
